Access state for volume volume name in library library name has been set to
unavailable.
Explanation: The specified volume encountered an error during mount processing
that makes it unusable. The access state of the volume in the library volume
inventory is changed to unavailable so that the volume is not selected for future
mounts. One of the following may be the cause of the error. The volume may
already be queued for use in the media library device. The volume may be mounted
in another tape resource that is not available to the media library device. The
volume was marked not available, or in error by the library device manager. The
volume identifier may be a duplicate. The volume may have been manually ejected
from the library device.
System Action: The server sets the volume access state to unavailable. If the
server operation requires a scratch volume, processing continues with another
scratch volume. If the server operation required the given volume, the operation is
terminated.
User Response: Check previously issued ADSM messages for additional
information regarding the error. Check the spooled files of the AS/400 user that
started the ADSM server for messages that describe the problem with the given
volume. The AS/400 Display Tape Cartridge (DSPTAPCTG) command can be used
to display the attributes of a tape volume. Once the problem is corrected, update the
access state of the volume to available by using the UPDATE LIBVOL command.
An audit of the ADSM library will also result in a re-evaluation of the condition of
the volume. If the volume is usable, it’s access state will be changed to available.
An audit of the ADSM library occurs automatically during server initialization or an
audit of the library can be started with the AUDIT LIBRARY command.
