MAS port capacities (Modular Messaging—MSS)
Table 11-4 provides information on the messaging application server
(MAS) port capacities of a Modular Messaging—Avaya Message Storage
Server (MSS) system with all mailboxes enabled for the Modular
Messaging Aria telephone user interface (TUI).
Systems that are initially configured with all Modular Messaging Aria
TUI mailboxes that later deploy the Modular Messaging AUDIX TUI
must be engineered at that time to meet the capacities noted in Table 11-5
on page 11-7.
Table 11-5 provides information on the messaging application server
(MAS) port capacities of a Modular Messaging—Avaya Message Storage
Server (MSS) system with mailboxes enabled for the Modular Messaging

1. E-mail readers are purchased/included with the system, and statically assigned to a specific MAS
2. Includes N+1 or spreading cards beyond the minimum number of required servers. When the Tracing
Server, the Offline Call Answer store, or both are implemented on a dedicated server; they don't count
towards the MAS maximums.
3. The IP port represents the card interfacing to the PBX and supporting other IP functions.
4. Avaya provides Dual Span T1/E1 cards for incremental fax resources, the 2nd span is not used for voice
5. Not all ports are used on the last card
6. Hardware configurations deployed prior to November 1, 2004, with five DSE cards or five 4-port
analog cards within a single MAS continue to be supported.
7. Find-Me is not supported for analog integrations
8. Analog systems with 4-port cards can be purchased as a new system in 4 and 8 port configurations only.
Expansions after market are supported to capacity.
