Planning Guide
An example rule might be:
“When anyone calls and leaves a [urgent voice message], send a
notification message with this [caller’s phone number] and with this
[notification message] to [anon@avaya.com].”
Once a rule is created, subscribers can enable or disable the automatic
notification rule in Subscriber Options. If necessary they can enable or
disable automatic notification using the Aria TUI for Modular Messaging.
For more information on using Notify Me, see Avaya Modular Messaging
Subscriber Options, 585-310-789 (Issue 2).
Configuring
automatic Notify Me
Administrators can use the Notify Me class-of-service (COS) parameter
on the MSS, to determine which subscribers are enabled for Notify Me.
Notify Me-enabled subscribers can set up rules for automatic Notify Me
from Subscriber Options. The rules can be enabled or disabled using
Subscriber Options or from the Modular Messaging Aria TUI.
Overview of Message Waiting Indicator (MWI)
MWI is a method of alerting subscribers when messages that meet
specified criteria arrive in their mailbox. Subscribers are alerted by either
a lamp indicator on the telephone or an audible tone (stutter dialtone)
when they pick up the receiver. The indicator is cleared when a subscriber
accesses the message and the message moves out of the New message
category. Subscribers can set up rules for using MWI in Subscriber
Options. For example, they can choose to be notified only when they
receive urgent voice messages.
With Modular Messaging—MSS, broadcast messages do not activate
MWI.
An MWI Server provides message waiting indication for the voice mail
domain. The MWI Server communicates with the MAS and the Mailbox
Monitoring service. The Mailbox Monitoring service receives
notifications from the message store when the subscriber mailbox
changes. The MWI Server then determines when the indicator on the
telephone of a subscriber needs to be turned on or off.
Note: The Call Me Server and MWI Server must be installed on the
same MAS and must be set up to share the same Mailbox
Monitoring service.
MWI capacities Modular Messaging—MSS supports up to a maximum of 20,000
subscribers in a voicemail domain. All of these subscribers can be
MWI-enabled.
