Avaya Message Storage Server capacities
Table 11-2 provides information on the capacities of an Avaya Message
Storage Server (MSS), the high-availability configuration (MSS—H) and
the standard-availability configuration (MSS—S).
Note: Capacities for single Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus
Domino servers are not controlled by Avaya and must be
determined from Microsoft and IBM.

1. With software mirroring, two disks provide the actual storage capacity of only one disk.
2. With RAID Level 5, three disks provide the actual storage capacity of only two disks.
3. The MSS calculations account for the need to have at least 20% free space available for the system to
run. Thus system free space is built into these calculations for the MSS.
