Direct (out-of-band) management method
This method, shown in Figure 78 on page 106, uses Ethernet connections from a
management station to each controller. You must install at least one management
station. The management station can be the host or a workstation on the Ethernet
network. A management station will have the client software installed. Attach
Ethernet cables to each management station (one pair per storage subsystem). You
will connect the cables to each storage subsystem controller later when you install
the storage subsystem. Figure 78 on page 106 shows the direct (out-of-band)
management method.
Note: Do not connect the DS4500 Storage Subsystem Ethernet ports to a public
network or public subnet. It is strongly recommended that you create a
private network between the DS4500 Storage Subsystem and the
management station.
