Recording television programs
[HDD] [RAM]
Press [AUDIO].
If you change the sound setting while recording, the recorded
sound will also change.
Note
You cannot change the audio type in the following cases while the
unit is stopped, whichever drive is selected.
While a disc other than DVD-RAM is inserted.
When “Recording for High-Speed Copying” is set to “On” (l 75).
(The default setting is “On”.)
When the recording mode is XP and “
Audio for XP Recording
” is set
to “LPCM” (l 76).

Select the audio [Main or Secondary Audio
Program (SAP)] in “Multi-channel TV Sound
(MTS)” in the Setup menu. (

[HDD] [RAM] [-R] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+RW]
The unit sets the best possible picture quality that fits the recording
within the remaining disc space. The recording mode becomes FR
mode.
Preparation
Select the channel or the external input (IN1, IN2, IN3 or DV) to
record.
Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select the recording drive (HDD or DVD).
[1] While stopped
Press [FUNCTIONS].
[2] Press [3, 4] to select “Other Functions” and
then press [ENTER].
[3] Press [3, 4] to select “Flexible Recording” and
then press [ENTER].
[4] Press [2, 1] to select “Hour” and “Min.” and
then press [3, 4] to set the recording time.
You can also set the recording time with the numbered
buttons.
Maximum recording time is 8 hours.
[5] Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select “Start” and then
press [ENTER].
Recording starts.
All the recording modes from XP to EP appear in the display.
To exit the screen without recording
Press [RETURN].
To stop recording partway
Press [, STOP].
To show the remaining time
Press [STATUS].

Stereo: Main audio (stereo)
If the broadcast is “MonoiSAP”, audio will
be monaural even if you select Stereo mode.

SAP Audio: Secondary audio program (SAP)
If recorded in SAP mode, main audio is also
recorded.

Mono: Main audio (monaural)
Select “Mono” if reception is poor during a
stereo broadcast.
