The following explains key terms used in this manuah
Album
An album is a unit used while playing back or recording audio
signals on this unit. For detailed inlormation, see "Data on the
HDD" (RI6).
Audio Master Quality Recording
Audio Master Quality Recording is a high quality recording mode
used to create an audio CD with its original quality. By minimizing
the jitter that subtly degrades the audio quality or even causes data
transnfission failure, Audio Master Quality Recording actualizes a
clear sound close to the original sound.
Bookmark
A hookmark is a collection ol audio tracks ol y(mr prel'crence. You
can play back or record audio data using a bookmark, and an album
can be created from a bookmark. For detailed information, see
"Data on the HDD" (R 16) or "Data on CDs" (R 17).
CD TEXT
CD TEXT is text inlormation (album title, track title, etc) recorded
on CDs and can be read only with a CD player or CD-ROM drive
that supports CD TEXT.
Digital Move
Digital move implies moving audio data recorded on the HDD onto
CD-R/RW discs. The audio data once digital moved onto CD-R/RW
discs are erased from the HDD. Because digital move is regarded as
one generation of digital copying, audio data can be digitally copied
from CDs onto the HDD and then li'om the HDD onto CD_R/RW
discs. However, audio data cannot be copied onto several CD-R/
RW discs at the same time.
Disc
A disc is a unit used while playing hack or recording audio sigmds
on this unit. For detailed inlk)rnmtion, see "Data on the HDD"
(R 16) or "Data on CDs" (R 17).
Emphasis
Emphasis is a recording mode used to improve the qmflity of audio
data. Emphasis turns the volume of the upper register up before
recording and down while playing back, resulting in a decrease in
the noise level of the upper register.
Finalize
Finalize is a process to enable audio data recorded onto CD_R/RW
discs to be played back on CD players or other CD-RW compatible
devices. An audio disc created on this unit must be finalized to be
played back on other playback devices.
Group
A group is a unit used while ph@ug hack or recording audio sigmfls
on this unit and is a collective term for albums, discs and book-
marks. A group consists of several audio tracks. For detailed
inlonnation, see "Data on the HI)I)" (P.16) or "Data on CDs"
(P.17).
SCMS
SCMS (Serial Cop_ Managmnent S_stem) is a system developed hy
JASRAC (Japanese Society li)r Rights of Authors, Composers and
Producers) to prevent unlimited digital copying of CD's and other
prerecorded media. In essence, SCMS prevents more than one
generation of digital copying (i.e. a copy of an SCMS copy-
protected source cannot be duplicated).
Toe
TOC (_Pableof Contents) is a disc index recorded on a finalized disc
and enables playback devices to distinguish audio tracks recorded
on the disc.
Track
A track is equivalent to one audio recoMiug and is the smallest unit
used while playing back or recording audio signals on this unit. For
detailed information, see "Data on the HDD" (R 16) or "Data on
CDs" (El7).
Track Mark
A track mark is a mark made at the beginning of a track and enables
playback devices to distinguish the starting position of each audio
track. A track mark also facilitates track search and iutro playback.
You can make a track mark on this unit either automatically or
manually.
