Adjustingthe recording level
There is an adjusting procedure for each inpul source to be recorded as explained below. Choose Ihe one for your input source and lollow Ihe
steps.

When recording a digital input source
(OPTICAL, COAXIAL)
The digital recording level is set to OdB, the level ol the input
source, as an initial setting. Further a_[justment is not normally
necessary. However it is possible to at[just the recording level to
suit your needs.
1 Press MENU while this unit is in the HDD recording
standby mode (P.31).
The following screen appears on the disphly.

2. Play the loudest passage (highest sound level) of the
source to be recorded.
3. Rotate the MULTI JOG knob (press +/-, or on the
remote control) to adjust the recording level.
The recording level can be a([iusted while this unit is in either the
recording or recording standby mode. Once recording has been
stopped, the recording level is reset to 0dB.
A([justment of the recording level can be canceled by pressing
MENU when the level is adjusted in the recording standby mode.
The recording level is set to 0dB by pressing (-;LEAR when the
level is a([justed in the recording standby mode.
When recording an analog input source
(ANALOG)
1 Play the loudest passage (highest sound level) of the
source to be recorded.
2. Adjust the recording level by rotating the ANALOG
REC LEVEL control.
Rotate the control clockwise to increase the level and
counterclockv, qse to decrease the leveh
Adjust the recording level so thai the red part on the peak level
meier does nol lighl al the Ioudesl sound levels.
Adjustment is possible in the 12dB to +12dB range by 0.4dB
steps.
Adjust the recording level so that the red part on the peak level
meter does not light at the loudest sound levels.
4, Press the MULTI JOG knob (ENTER on the remote
control) to return to the previous display.
The recording level can be adjusled while this uuil is in either the
recording or recording standby mode.
