Default TV Standard
Default TV Standard is used to enable either NTSC or Pal interlaced
video format. This allows the user to set the default so that when no
disc is inserted, the on screen display is output in the correct
standard for their display. When a disc is inserted, the player will
switch to the format of the disc.
NTSC (National Television Standards Committee) is a video format
consisting of 480 active lines. It is used in the United States,
Canada, and Japan.
PAL (Phase Alternation by Line) is a video format that consists of
576 active lines. It is used in European countries.
To set the default TV standard:
Use the remote control up or down button to select the desired
setting and press enter.
Test Images
Test images are internally generated by the Nº51 Media Player and
output to the display device through the active video output port in
the selected output format. Each test image is technically perfect
(conforms to video industry standards) at the output of the Nº51
Media Player and can be used as a system diagnostic to determine
any anomalies in the path from the source to the display.
These images should only be used with the Nº51 Media Player
settings set to 0. The purpose of these images is to setup the display
if no setup disc is available.
To use test images:
1. Set the Nº51 Media Player video controls to 0.
2. Select Setup : Video : Test Images.
3. Using the left and right arrow buttons, select a test image to
display.
4. Use the image to adjust downstream video components.
If the Nº51 Media Player video parameters are to be adjusted, a DVD
containing test images must be used, and not the internal Color
Bars and Crosshatch test images.
