Nº51 Media Player Basic Operation
Remote Control
The Nº51 remote control provides full operation of the Nº51. It requires
special consideration during operation to ensure optimal performance.
Pay particular attention to instructions included in this section and to
precautions included throughout this owner’s manual.
The right side of the front-panel display includes an IR receiver that
receives infrared commands from the remote control IR transmitter when
the Nº51 is not using the IR input connector.
Note The items below are not applicable when the Nº51 is using the IR input
connector.
When operating the remote control:
DO eliminate obstructions between the remote control IR transmitter
and the front-panel display IR receiver.
DO position the remote control within ±45° of a line that is perpen-
dicular to the front-panel display IR receiver. At more severe angles,
attempt to “bounce” the remote control signal off a wall or another
surface so the signal is received at the IR receiver at a reasonable angle.
DO position the remote control within 17 feet (5m) of the front-panel
display IR receiver. If the Nº51 is placed inside a glass cabinet, tinted glass
will reduce the remote control range.
DO replace the remote control batteries as needed. In some cases, the
remote control IR transmitter LED will light more dimly (or not at all) if
the remote control batteries need to be replaced. See “Remote Control
Batteries” on page 1-10 for instructions.
DO NOT obstruct the front-panel display IR receiver, which must be in
line-of-sight with the remote control IR transmitter for proper remote
control operation.
DO NOT expose the front-panel display IR receiver to strong sunlight,
halogen light, or fluorescent light. This can cause IR reception to become
unreliable.
DO NOT use remote controls for different components at the same time.
Remote controls for different components can interfere with one another.
