DVD-Video audio settings
the Audio settings page lets you control how DVD handles
audio.
To open the Audio settings page
Click the Setup button in the DVD control panel, then
click the Audio tab.
The Multimedia Center supports standard DVD-Video,
which provides stereo and compressed, multi-channel
surround sound using Dolby
®
Digital or DTS
®
encoding. DVD-Audio (DV-A) is a separate standard,
which requires a DVD-Audio player.

Decode and down-mix to 2 channels
The audio decoder “passes-through” non-PCM
multichannel audio or 2-channel audio as LPCM
(normal).
Pass through to audio device
Some audio cards may incorrectly report several audio
devices that support non-PCM audio input
(Dolby
®
Digital, DTS, etc.). For correct operation, you
should specify the audio device you want to use.
• If only one audio device reports support for non-PCM
audio, the audio device selection is greyed-out and
displays the only choice.
• If no audio devices report support for non-PCM audio,
only the Decode and down-mix to 2 channels is
available.

Play audio in 2-channel stereo.
