Probable cause
The POWER/LOCK switch is set to ON.
The destination folder for downloading was other than
the SmartMedia root folder.
VOICE mode is active.
MUSIC mode is active.
Wrong folder.
Symptom

Action
Set the POWER/LOCK switch to
OFF.
Copy the music file into the root
folder.
Switch to MUSIC mode.
Switch to VOICE mode.
Switch to the right folder.

Multidecoder System
The DM-1 uses a multidecoder system such that even if in the future a more advanced compression
format or a different type music files may become the mainstream, all you need do is to install an
upgraded version to playback the music files.
The software may be upgraded* without notice. Be sure to visit the Olympus web site
http://www.olympus.com to keep up with the latest information.
*At present, there are no plans for an upgrade or new encoding method.
