The initial conguration consists of six conguration steps.

Prerequisites
The initial conguration of the system is conductedafter powering it onfor the rst time and
establishing a connection, as documented in the
Installation section, also available as aPDF on

Note that the option to perform initial congurationof a cluster isonly available in theBUI. If
electing this option, read the clustering documentation beforebeginning initial conguration
for detailed additional steps that are required forsuccessful cluster setup. Alternatively,
cluster-capable appliances may be initially congured for standaloneoperation using the
following procedure and re-congured for cluster operation ata later time.
Summary
This procedure will congure networking connectivity, several clientnetwork services, and the
layout of the storage pool for standalone operation.When completed, the applianceis ready for
use - but may not have any sharescongured for remote clientsto access. See the Shares section
for how to create shares. Refer to theConguration section for other availablesettings and to
revisit those from the initial conguration. See
