Powering On and Conguring the Appliance
This section provides instructions for conguring the primarynetwork interface using the
preinstalled Unied Storage System command line interface (CLI).After you congure the
primary interface, congure the remaining system parameters usingthe browser user interface
(BUI) from any client on the same network.
Prerequisites
Refer to the Disk Shelf Installation and Controller Installation pages for detailed instructions to
install your system in the rack. Complete the system cablingaccording to the
Cabling Diagrams
section.
Gather the following information in preparation for conguringan Ethernet interface on the
storage controller.

IP address
■
IP netmask
■
Hostname
■
Domain Name Server (DNS)domain name
■
DNS server IPaddress
■
Default router IP address
■
Password
If you will access the appliancethrough an administrative client, congure the administrative
client with the following settings:

8N1: eight data bits, no parity, one stopbit
■
9600 baud
■
Disable hardware ow control (CTS/RTS)
■
Disable software ow control (XON/XOFF)
