Troubleshooting
The IC recorder does not
operate.
You may have formatted the memory of the IC recorder using the
computer. Use the IC recorder formatting function to format the
memory (page80).
The IC recorder does not
operate, even if you press
any button.
The batteries are weak (page 13).
The power to the IC recorder is off. Slide the HOLD•POWER
ON/OFF switch in the direction of “POWER ON/OFF” for more
than 1 second (page 14).
The HOLD function is activated. Slide the HOLD•POWER ON/
OFF switch in the center direction (page 11).
No sound comes from the
speaker.
The volume is turned down completely (page 25).
Headphones are plugged in (page 47).
Sound comes from only one
channel.
When audio output of an external device is monaural and the
recording mode is set to “128kbps” (STSP) or “192kbps” (ST),
sounds are recorded only in one channel. In this case, set the
recording mode to “48kbps(MONO)” (SP) or “8kbps(MONO)”
(LP), or use a commercially-available plug adaptor to convert
monaural sound to stereo sounds.
Sound comes from the
speaker even when a pair of
headphones is plugged in.
If you plug in a pair of headphones (not supplied) not securely
during playback, the sound may come from the speaker. Unplug
the headphones, and then insert them securely.
The access, recording, and
playback indicators do not
light.
“LED” is set to “OFF.” Display the menu and set “LED” to “ON”
(page 77).
The “Memory Full” message
is displayed and you cannot
start recording.
The memory is full. Erase some of the files (page 29) or erase all
the files after you store them on the other memory media or on
your computer.
