Fully discharge the batteries occa-
sionally by playing the CD player
until it no longer plays. Then fully
recharge the batteries. This helps
restore the batteries’ full charging
capacity.
Avoid charging the batteries in a
hot environment (above 113°F) as
this can permanently reduce the
batteries’ charging capacity.
Caution: Do not overcharge the bat-
teries. Overcharging can significantly
reduce the batteries’ useful life.
Important: This CD player is capable
of using rechargeable nickel-cadmium
batteries. At the end of the batteries’
useful life, they must be recycled or
disposed of properly. Contact your lo-
cal, county, or state hazardous waste
management authorities for informa-
tion on recycling or disposal programs
in your area. Some options that might
be available are: municipal curb-side
collection, drop-off boxes at retailers
such as your local RadioShack store,
recycling collection centers, and mail-
back programs.
Installing Batteries
1. Press down on the battery com-
partment cover and slide it away
from the CD player, then lift the
cover.
2. Place two AA batteries in the com-
partment as indicated by the po-
larity symbols (+ and –) marked
inside.
3. Close the battery compartment
cover.
Replace or recharge the batteries
when flashes on the display, the
sound distorts, or the volume weak-
ens.
Cautions:
Always dispose of old batteries
promptly and properly; do not burn
or bury them.
If you do not plan to use the CD
player for a month or more, re-
move and store the batteries.
• Never leave dead, old, or weak
batteries in the CD player. Batter-
ies can leak chemicals that cor-
rode or damage electronic
circuits.
