Technology Glossary
Cinematic Effects
Record in a cinema mode like 16:9
that automatically adjusts other pro
settings, including gain, skin tone and
many more. Progressive mode
records 25 frames per second instead
of 50 half-frames – for movies with
that big film feeling.
Click to DVD
Click to DVD software lets you burn
footage easily to a DVD disc, with
just one click! (See pages 14-15 for
compatible models).
Data Code
Enables your Handycam to store
useful information about your
footage, e.g., date and time of
recording and 16:9 mode. You can
display the data as a reminder during
playback if need be.
Digital Picture Effects /
Picture Effects
Add special effects like Still, Flash
Motion, Slow Shutter, Luminance Key,
Trail and Old Movie. Picture Effects
offers you Black & White, Sepia,
Mosaic and Negative Art.
DV In / Out (i.LINK™)
Most Sony Digital Handycams come
with DV out for transferring full quality
footage to other devices using an
i.LINK™ cable. DV in lets you transfer
edited movies back to your
Handycam.
Fader
Start and finish scenes with a choice
of stylish fades. Fader automatically
raises and lowers the volume as the
picture fades in or out.
Battery Info Button
Press just one button to find
out exactly how much
recording time is left – even
when your Handycam is
charging or off.
Burst Recording
Lets your Handycam take still
photos in quick succession.
Guide Frame
This handy grid on your LCD and
viewfinder is ideal for adjusting
horizontal and vertical alignment.
High-quality 16:9 /
True Widescreen Mode
Recording in True Widescreen mode
offers huge gains in playback
quality on widescreen televisions
(see page 10).
Handycam Station (cradle)
The Handycam Station recharges
your camcorder so you’re always
ready for action. Whenever you
slot in your Handycam, it’s already
connected to your TV or PC*
(see pages 12-13).
CCD
The chip that converts incoming light
into digital signals. As a rule, the more
pixels it has, the better your picture.
Easy Handycam Button
Push this button to reduce the num-
ber of choices in the LCD menu and
double the size of the writing. Ideal
for beginners and people who find it
hard to read small letters.
AE shift
Choose one of 9 exposure
levels to adjust and set the
brightness of your shot.
