Use of the Guard Terminal
When measuring a cable, leakage current flowing on the surface of cable’s jacket and the current
flowing inside the cable’s insulator combine and may cause measurement errors. In order to prevent
such errors, a conductive wire should be wound around the point where leakage current flows. The
conductive wire should then be connected to the Guard terminal as shown in accompanying figure.
Be sure to use only the Guard cable supplied with this instrument to connect the instrument to the
Guard terminal.
