Symptom
No power.
The LCD turned off by itself.
No picture. (Other than built-
in LCD monitor)

Cause
The AC adapter or power plug is
disconnected.
The battery pack has been removed.
Battery empty.
The automatic LCD off function turned the
LCD off.
The connected TV is not set to receive
DVD signal output.
The player is not set to the external output
mode (AV-OUT).
The aerial connection is improperly
positioned.
The channel scanning is not set channeles
available in your area.
The equipment connected via the audio/
video cable is not set to receive DVD
signal output.
The volume is too low.
The audio receiver or TV is turned off.
The setting of output sound format is
incorrect.
The disc is dirty.
Player is in fast forward or fast reverse
mode.
The player was moved or given a shock.
The disc is not set firmly.
The effect of copy protection.
No disc is inserted.
An unplayable disc is inserted.
The disc is inserted upside down.
The disc is not inserted securely.
The disc is dirty.
The parental lock function is set.
The player is set to the external input
mode (AV-IN).
It is in the repeat playback mode, memory
playback, etc.
Power supply fluctuations or other
abnormalities such as static electricity may
interrupt correct operation.
Correction
Connect the AC adapter or power plug
securely.
Install the battery pack.
Re-charge the battery.
Press any button.
Select the appropriate video input mode
on the TV so the picture from the player
appears on the TV screen.
Press MODE and switch to the external
output mode (AV-OUT).
Connect the aerial properly.
Set by scanning.
Select the correct input mode of the
audio receiver so you can listen to the
sound from the player.
Adjust the volume by turning the volume
control.
•Turn on the equipment connected with
the audio/video cable.
Select the proper audio setting.
Eject the disc and clean it.
Sometimes a small amount of picture
distortion may appear. This is not a
malfunction.
•Vibrating or shaking the player during
playback may produce distortion. This is
not a malfunction. If not restored to usual
status, stop playback and start again.
Remove the disc and set it again.
Connect the player directly to the TV.
Avoid connecting the player to a VTR or
TV/VTR combination.
Insert a disc.
Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc
type, color system and region number.)
Insert the disc with the playback side
down.
Insert the disc securely in the disc holder.
Clean the disc.
Cancel the parental lock function or
change the parental lock level.
•To play a disc with the player, NORMAL
or AV-OUT needs to be set. Press MODE
repeatedly so that you can view playback
picture.
These operations may prevent a proper
progression of the contents.
•Turn the power on or off with the POWER
switch. Or disconnect the power plug and
insert it into the wall outlet again.
