Symptom Cause Correction
The player does not start
playback.
• No disc is inserted. • Insert a disc.
• An unplayable disc is inserted. • Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type, colour system and region
number.)
• The disc is inserted upside down. • Insert the disc with the playback side down.
• The disc is not inserted securely. • Insert the disc securely in the disc holder.
• The disc is dirty. • Clean the disc.
• The parental lock function is set. • Cancel the parental lock function or change the parental lock level.
• The player is set to the external input
mode (AV-IN).
• To play a disc with the player, Normal needs to be set. Press MODE
repeatedly so that you can view playback picture.
Playback does not follow
the course of the disc’s
program.
• It is in the repeat playback mode,
memory playback, etc.
• These operations may prevent a proper progression of the contents.
Buttons do not work. • Power supply fl uctuations or other
abnormalities such as static electricity
may interrupt correct operation.
• Turn the power on or off with the POWER switch. Or disconnect the
power cord and insert it into the wall outlet again.
The remote control does
not work properly.
• The remote control is not pointed at
the remote sensor of the player.
• Point the remote control at the remote sensor of the player.
• The remote control is too far from the
player.
• Operate the remote control within about 3 m (9.9 feet).
• The batteries in the remote control are
exhausted.
• Replace the batteries with new ones.
• The player’s remote sensor is exposed
to a strong light source such as direct
sunlight or other illumination.
• Avoid the player from being exposed to a strong light source.
