Spikes (Quantum tower loudspeakers): you should use the supplied spikes when setting the speakers up. This isolates
them from the supporting surface, preventing unpleasant resonance effects. The spikes are screwed into the threads in the
metal supports (Fig. 3).
MAGNAT QUANTUM 900 LOUDSPEAKERS AS A FRONT OR REAR LOUDSPEAKER
The front loudspeakers are positioned at ear height on the left and right as equidistant from the television as possible. The
rear loudspeakers are placed at ear height or a little above on the left and right besides or better behind the listening position.
(Fig. 4)
Otherwise all the recommendations made in the previous chapter also apply.
MAGNAT QUANTUM 900 - BI-WIRING AND BI-AMPING
Bi-wiring means using separate cables to carry the high and low audio frequencies. Bi-amping takes this idea one step further
and uses separate power amplifiers as well as separate cables for high and low frequencies. Bi-amping in particular produces
an additional improvement in sound reproduction quality.
The special connection terminals of the Quantum 900 loudspeakers support both conventional connection and operation in
bi-wiring and bi-amping modes. There are four screw terminals on each speaker. The top pair are for the tweeter (high
frequencies), the lower pair for the woofer (low frequencies). The factory-installed cables strips connecting the positive and
negative terminals are for conventional 2-wire connection and must be removed for bi-wiring and bi-amping operation. The
pictures below show the correct set-up for conventional operation (fig. 5a), bi-wiring (fig. 5b) and bi-amping (fig. 5c).
MAGNAT QUANTUM CENTER 916
The Quantum Center 916 loudspeaker visually and acoustically ideally matches the other Quantum 900 models. The
loudspeaker is placed immediately on or under the television set.
HOME CINEMA OPERATION WITH SUBWOOFER
An active subwoofer is recommended for home cinema mode, especially where shelf-top or smaller tower loudspeakers are
used as front speakers. All subwoofers with a chassis of at least 30 cm and minimum nominal output of 100 watts can be
used. Please refer to the separate operating instructions supplied with this product.
CONNECTING TO AN AV RECEIVER
Figs. 6 and 7 show two different methods of connecting to AV receivers.

MAINTENANCE
Dust the wood surfaces with a soft cloth. Polish occasionally using a good quality furniture polish. Please remember that
wood is a natural product; the speaker’s wood surfaces will get darker when exposed to light over a long period. The
lacquered surface is best cleaned with a mild household cleaner. On no account use furniture polish or similar products on
these surfaces.
