It dims, it brightens. I cant work out what sequence of button pushing causes it. Holding down the snooze or pushing it multiple times doesnt work and there is no battery in it. Someone must know, this prob has been raised by lots of people.

5 All the above answers are wrong and misleading.
You cannot fix this issue just by pressing any magic buttons.
You have to disconnect the electric then take out the CR2025 battery from the back and remove it.
Wait 5 mins then you will see the brightness back. Job done.

3 I've had this clock for years and I have had problems with the brightness in the past and can never remember how to get it bright again (there is a way-I've done it before). Pretty sure it DOES have something to do with the snooze button, but just pressing it four times in definitely not it.

2 The snooze button does not do anything. I even put a new battery in it and still can't see the clock.

2 Hi. Just hold down the clock and the + button simultaneously for about 6 seconds then push the snooze button.

2 PULL OUT THE BACK UP BATTERY (USE A SCREW DRIVER, IS UNDER THE CLOCK), AND UNPLUG FOR 5 MINUTES, AND THE BRIGHTNESS BACK TO NORMAL.

1 Press the snooze button 4 times. The display toggles between lo/high brightness

1 What Edredr said.......worked 1st try.  Take out battery and put back .

0 Removing battery ( if it has one), unplugging from electrical socket for 5 minutes & then plugging back in (inset battery if you have one) works great! I just did it. Edredr is absolutely 1000 % right.

0 I have been spamming the button for (probably the last hour) trying to figure out how this feature--I've accidentally come across--works. If I spam the button, at random, the display changes brightness. If someone can attach / make a video that explains how this feature works, please do.

0 Model ICF-C218 - Your answer doesn't work, or you are using one second as an arbitrary term.

Also: Sometimes when I am spamming the button, I'll see a number pop up that usually says "12:15"... What does that mean?
0 @Peter Please stop spamming that method. I've tried it, It seems spamming the button is more effective. But please don't spam your message.

0 When I do spam the button, sometimes I see a 12:xx number in the display.

https://youtu.be/bRzPqnX6XjE I've been experimenting.

0 Why does Peter's message keep moving down in the list? I've only just noticed this.

0 I think what no one is spelling out is that the Numbers themselves do not get brighter. It's the overall lighting of the Screen that changes - which doesn't help visibility of the time hardly at all. I was certain that hitting the snooze button was doing nothing when I tried this during the day, but in a completely dark room it was easy to see that just a tap of the snooze button does change the brightness of the overall screen. Perhaps there are some issues not corrected by this method, but this worked for me. Though it's still very hard to read the time at any degree of brightness unless in the ideal room lighting - so be prepared to be let down anyway.

0 BIG'S answer: press clock & + button for 6 or 7 seconds then snooze worked first time for me!!

0 You can adjust the brightness by pressing left or right on the snooze bar.

-3 Edreds answer works but is the most difficult method. Just make sure it is in normal time display mode, then press and hold the snooze button for a second, let go, then press and hold again etc... It will then toggle between the different brightnesses. You can also use this to turn the brightness down at night.
Cheers, PeterE.
