stop/eject key does not open cassette lid...

I played the first side of a cassette to the end of the tape. The player stopped. The stop/eject key no longer works to open the lid. How do I open the lid?

0 I took the boombox to my local friendly electronics repairman. He tore it apart and put it back together, and now the eject button works.
