0 It is a lot simpler to get input in a way other than the RF cable input.. If you have a separate VCR with a tuner or your cable allows three wire hookup, usually a white and a red for the sound, and a yellow for the video, so wherever you have those terminals on some sort of tuner device. hook those up to the recorder's simularly marked input plugts, on the back of the unit, are inputs#1 and #3. The ones on the front lower right corner behind the litle door are for input #2. to switch between inputs, there is a button on the remote upper right corner, between the DVD Button And the Channel up/down button marked input select. It will advance one at a time between input 1, 2, 3,and tv channels that are stored in your machine.(Channel up/down will do the same but willhave to cycle through all the preset channels first. There is alsom an easy way to set up timer recorings. It's the bottom right button on the same row as the red RECord button. It takes some practice to understand, but works pretty well. (Except the built in timer/clock on mine loses about a minute every four to six days. I've had a few $1 watches that were more reliable)
