my dvd player when I insert the disc tells me after loading that there is not disk what can i do to fix it

0 I found that the spinning connected has been pushed down too far. The laser can't focus. I fixed this by carefully prying it off and sticking 2 washers on small spindle. I didnt use any glue, but thats up to u.
