connecting the wii to the sylvania television model 6413tey...

I am trying to connect the wii to my sylvania television model 6413tey. I am trying to use the video and audio jacks that are on the front of the television. i have game mode turned on on the the television. When I select game from the remote, I don't get anything on the screen.
