I have not used my Nextar MA588-205 MP3 player in ...

I have not used my Nextar MA588-205 MP3 player in ages. Clearly the battery died. Now when I put in a new battery all I get is the hour glass. Pressing buttons doesn't seem to change anything. I do not remember how to operate. Is there any hope of getting it working again?
