Question About JVC MP3 Player HR-XVC20U
Can't program JVC combo VCR / DVD player...

I can't access the menu from the remote control -- which means I can't program the unit to record and can't set the clock, among other things. I've followed all suggestions in the owners' manual, which I have, with no success. Any ideas? (Yes, the remote batteries are new.)
