Question About Insignia MP3 Player None

MY WINDOWS MUSIC PLAYER DOES NOT RECONIZE MY MP3 PLAYER WHEN IT IS PLUGGED IN AND IT DELETED ALL OF THE DOWNLOADED MUSIC THAT WAS ALREADY ON THE MP3 PLAYER. HOW DO I GET MY MUSIC PLAYER TO RECONIZE THE MP3 TO SYNC MORE MUSIC TO THE MP3 AND RETRIEVE THE LOST MUSIC THAT WAS PRIVOUSLY DOWN LOADED???
