5 What I have learned in the last 5 days is that when you install the driver, it will not say "Emerson MP3" in My Computer. It says Audio Player. It's connecting to this and my computer communicating with this that is the problem. Any suggestions??

5 What I have found so far and have tried so far has been endless and still I have no solution as to why it will not work on my pc. I have updated all drivers including the plug andplay and all my bios drivers and usb drivers. the minute I plug the emp312-1 in my mouse stops responding my keyboard stops responding and everything freezes including my animated screensaver and my cpu usage monitor internet speed monitor . The only option I have is a reboot and it will not reboot with the emp312-1 plugged into it. My neices computer however it works fine on and she runs xp and has the same processor as mine and all. anyone comes up with a solution please post

5 So I buy my mom this mp3 player and I am having the very same problems as everyone else that commented. I've emailed emerson twice and have yet to get a reply. Its really awful to give someone a gift and it refuses to recognize it on the computer. I think Emerson needs to work on their customer service as well.

5 I contacted the 800# in the back of the book that came with the MP3 player and they said it was my computer not the MP3 player. So, I contacted Emerson and they said that it is not their actual product, but a licensing agreement. Basically they are making money of this other company using their name on products that don't work!! And they don't care!! They told me there is nothing they can do about it.

5 Thank you so much for your response. We should all ban together and somehow let Emerson know that we'd like our $$$$$ back. The sneaks. I have a feeling they know it won't work, so they are just raking in the buckage. Thank you again for your reply d_akers. I appreciate it!

4 This little bugger is fixable, dont throw them away or become too frustrated. Update driver on your computer using Control Panel, then System, then Hardware, then Device Manager, then Storage Volumes. When promted to update or find a n new driver select to find your own windows driver and select the "USB Storage Device" drivers NOT the MTP Drivers. You should see the Emerson MP3 player icon in My Computer after files are configured.

3 ok here we go i dunno how i figured this out lol but it took a while. okay so ur gonna go to control panel, device manager, and uninstall the driver for mp3 player. then disconnect and reconnect to reinstall mp3 player. it will recognize it as emerson mp3. right click on it (im running xp) go to properties, click on the tools tab and click on check now on the error checking and select both options of automatic fix file system errors and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. then hit start and it will start the process of fixing the file error. it takes a couple minutes and when its done disconnect the mp3 player n turn it on and voila!!! it works again. if u need more help u can e-mail me at davidh9732@hotmail.com. hope this helps yall so u dont throw them away.

0 This sounds good to me! I bought three of these and my boys are all upset because they were Christmas presents and they can't even use them! I'm really ticked off. I can't take them back to the store because after opening, I threw everything away thinking I would be able to make them work....go figure!!

0 I threw everything away as well... thinking there would be no problems... ha! I guess I learrned something there. Im so sorry you spent your money on 3... ugh. There is just something very wrong with this whole thing! We do have the address on our "so called" manual.. what a joke. I think we should all bombard them with letters. This is absurd.

0 I keep trying, but once I open the audio player the second time and try to create the new folder, it just says it can't be created because it was disconnected or timed out. I am wondering if it is vistas that is causing this.

0 I wish I would have found this sooner!!!! I spent almost 2 hrs trying to figure out just why i was able to load a few songs and check to see if I did it right and then I reconnect it to my computer and they were GONE!!!!!!!!!!!! And I can't reconnect with this mini POS! I will try taking them back tomorrow as I still have one in the package and the other isn't. But I will give a good try. To say I am PO'd is a understatement!!! I will take the money (if I get anything back) and go spend money on a better one. Thanks again

0 I use windows media player to add and remove music. It won't work any other way. Just search your version of windows media player's help file for 'audio device' for instructions. Hope this helps.

0 I had trouble trying to transfer music from my external hard drive to my player. I was using my Vista laptop. i couldnt get it to work so i plugged it into my XP desktop unit and it worked like a champ. emerson should write a patch or new driver program to resolve this issue.

0 I had to go to start menu, control panel, system, and choose the hardware panel, device manager, Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and right click starting from the beginning of the list, choose to update driver, right click on everything on that list to update the drivers. After I updated mine everything including my webcam started to work again. Something in Windows Media 11 is disabling them and you can't even rollback to an earlier Windows media to fix it. I hope it works for you.
