Brand new Emerson 287C-4 will not charge. Shows ch...

Brand new Emerson 287C-4 will not charge. Shows charging for a few minutes then nothing. Has been "charging" for 16 hours, and still shows an empty battery and dies as soon as disconnected from the usb. Havent even gotten to use it once. Please Help!
