  AGDV2500 was designed and manufactured to be compatible with Operating Systems present on the market at the time of this DV product introduction.
  
  Unfortunately when new Windows OS has been introduced, it did not provide support for all existing DV models available on the market. You could express your concern for this issue directly with Microsoft.
  
  To accommodate Panasonic existing customers with older VTRs, the firmware upgrade was developed to add additional functionality to AGDV2500 VTRs manufactured before Windows Vista introduction.
  
  Upgrade is currently available.
  
  
  It is not a firmware upgrade one can perform himself. Special programming tool is needed.

  The cost of the upgrade is $130.00 plus S/H. Before sending VTR for an upgrade make sure IEEE1394 port of AGDV2500 is fully functional. The easiest way is to connect it to the camera through IEEE1394, and verify footage can be transferred between units.
  
  
  
  If your VTR production is before April 2004 (serial before D4A4701JV3), it may require replacement of DV CPU PCB (LK2137D0A) for DV/DVCAM playback improvement. Cost of the replacement of LK2137D0A is in addition to the cost of the upgrade. Actual need for it and cost would be determined upon receiving the unit.
  
  
  
  AGDV2500 with serial number "H7E*******" or newer (July production G7E1992JV3 to G7E2021JV3 and manufactured August/2007 and later) have new firmware installed and are Vista compatible.
