Motorola Portable Radio GP68

No received audio on speaker or ear phones

The Radio is transmitting,tones are heard when switched on and off,but received audio is only heard by pressing the monitor button.This is with the squelch in any position including zero.I checked the SPM menu all settings seem ok.Any help?
